Magical Musical Moments for Young Children: Supporting Concerteenies’ “Blown Away” Performances

At The Sarah Nulty Power of Music Foundation, we champion music’s unique ability to bring joy, connection and confidence to people of all ages. That’s why we’re proud to once again support Concerteenies, an award-winning organisation dedicated to bringing high-quality musical experiences to children aged 0–7 and their families, especially those facing disadvantage.

This summer, our grant is helping Concerteenies deliver 40 free performances of their newest “Musical Story”: Blown Away, based on Rob Biddulph’s beautifully illustrated book. The shows will take place in libraries across Sheffield and South Yorkshire, making music accessible in the very heart of local communities.

Blown Away will be brought to life by a solo flautist and a narrator, accompanied by large-scale animated illustrations and plenty of joyful audience participation. Children will join in with sounds, movement, and music, guided by professional musicians who know how to turn a story into a shared, unforgettable experience.

Each family will also receive activity packs and access to digital resources, helping them continue the fun and learning at home, reinforcing the idea that music isn’t just a one-time event, but something that can be woven into everyday family life.

The performances are being delivered in partnership with libraries located in areas of economic disadvantage. Libraries offer an ideal setting: welcoming, local and accessible to families who may not otherwise attend traditional concert venues. These Musical Stories are designed to break down barriers, cultural, economic, or practical, that can prevent families from engaging with live music.

We are passionate about music that connects people and communities. Concerteenies exemplifies that spirit, bringing together generations to share in magical, meaningful moments of creativity.

We’ve supported Concerteenies before, and we’re delighted to do so again. Their work is imaginative, inclusive, and rooted in the power of music to help children grow socially, emotionally, and creatively.

We can’t wait to see families across South Yorkshire be “blown away” by this latest Musical Story.
