Changing lives: the power of music
our mission
Can you imagine a party without music? A festival without a headliner? A funeral where you can’t sing out your pain, and your joy?
Music has the power to transform, to make you laugh, help you heal, make you dance, and help you remember.
The Sarah Nulty Power of Music Foundation exists to celebrate and support people to experience the transformative power of music. We are here to remember Sarah through the power of music: by bringing happiness and spreading joy to people in communities across Sheffield, Barnsley, Rotherham, Doncaster, and the wider South Yorkshire region.
How we make a difference
From funding music classes in community groups and schools to providing grants for people to buy instruments, The Power of Music Foundation enables, encourages and guides socially and economically disadvantaged people in South Yorkshire to develop musical abilities.
We also ensure that everyone can experience the happiness and joy that music – in whatever form it takes - can bring.
Alongside our grant-making, we continue to champion the wider development of music across South Yorkshire, including supporting grassroots live music, encouraging greater inclusion within the music industry, and helping people access training, development and progression opportunities.
who we support
We support grassroots and community-based music activity, particularly projects that are difficult to fund through mainstream or statutory routes. This includes work delivered by charities, voluntary and community organisations, social enterprises, schools, Music Hubs, local authorities and other local partners.
Our funding is delivered through two broad strands: ● Under 25 / Open Doors-linked projects - supporting children and young people up to the age of 25 through music education, participation and progression opportunities.
● All-ages and adult-inclusive projects - supporting music activity for adults, intergenerational groups and wider communities across South Yorkshire.
We are particularly interested in helping projects that: ● Remove financial, social or cultural barriers to participation ● Increase access to music for under-represented communities ● Strengthen local partnerships and community connections ● Support inclusive and accessible grassroots music activity ● Create opportunities for people to develop confidence, skills and creativity through music
OUR SUPPORTERS & GRANT PARTNERS
None of what we do would be possible without the incredible support of our community. From our dedicated volunteers and passionate fundraisers to our inspiring Half Marathon runners, grant partners, donors, sponsors and the many organisations we work alongside, every contribution helps us bring the joy and benefits of music to more people across South Yorkshire.
Your support means so much to us. Together, we are continuing Sarah's legacy and helping music create connections, opportunities and lasting positive impact in communities across Sheffield, Barnsley, Rotherham, Doncaster and beyond.
Thank you for being part of our journey.
