Who can apply?

The Sarah Nulty Power of Music Foundation supports people of all ages across South Yorkshire who are experiencing social or economic disadvantage. We work with organisations supporting people with disabilities and complex needs, children and young people, schools, and communities facing hardship across Sheffield, Barnsley, Rotherham and Doncaster.

We can only support applications where music is at the heart of the project and where the people who will benefit are based within South Yorkshire.

Grant Funding

We offer two types of grants:

  • Small Grants – up to £750

  • Large Grants – up to £2,000

Our Small Grants programme is open throughout the year and supports a wide range of music-based activities, projects and opportunities.

Our Large Grants programme is designed for new project ideas or established projects seeking additional funding to expand their impact. As funding is limited, only a small number of Large Grants are awarded each year. We encourage applicants to carefully consider which grant programme is most appropriate before applying.

Our current Large Grants programme will reopen on Monday 6th July 2026 and close on Monday 3rd August 2026. Successful applicants will be notified shortly after the closing date. If you have missed this round, our next Large Grants programme dates will be announced on our social media, please give us a follow on Facebook or Instagram.

Please note: Due to limited funding for festival activities, which has already been fully allocated, we will no longer accept applications for festival funding from January 2026.

Please read the supporting information in our Grant Making Policy in full before you start.

Please note that under the terms of the CIO Foundation Constitution dated 1st January 2020, the objects of the Charity are to advance the arts for the public benefit in particular, but not exclusively by the provision of:

  1. (a) grants to enable, encourage and guide socially and economically disadvantaged individuals in order to enhance their musical talents.

  2. (b) grants to support and aid any organisations which further this purpose and are exclusively charitable in accordance with the laws of England and Wales.
